2025 Miracle Child: Xander

Born full-term and healthy on February 16, 2022, Xander’s life took an unexpected turn at just five months old when he experienced his first seizure. After a series of frightening episodes, he was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome— a rare and severe form of drug-resistant epilepsy. Over the next two years, Xander endured countless seizures, hospital stays, and invasive treatments, including intubations and a vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) implant to help reduce seizure frequency and the risk of SUDEP.

Despite the challenges, including daily seizures, developmental setbacks, and medication struggles, Xander’s spirit remains unbreakable. With the support of his care team at El Paso Children's Hospital, Dr. Makoshi, and the Dravet Syndrome Foundation, Xander is now enjoying more stable days and continues to grow, learn, and inspire. Full of laughter, love, and resilience, Xander is a true warrior—relearning to walk, exploring his world with wonder, and lighting up every room with his smile. He is the embodiment of strength, courage, and hope.
