El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation is honored to introduce Christopher as the 2026 Children’s Miracle Network Local Champion, representing children and families who receive care at El Paso Children’s Hospital. Each year, a Local Champion is selected to share their story and serve as a voice for the many children whose lives are transformed through the hospital’s specialized pediatric programs.

Christopher’s journey began at birth when he sustained an Erb’s Palsy–Brachial Plexus injury during delivery. Days later, when there was still no movement in his arm, his pediatrician confirmed the diagnosis. At just three months old, Christopher underwent a complex surgery to transfer nerves from his ribs to repair damage in his neck.

Soon after, El Paso Children’s Hospital launched its Brachial Plexus Clinic, giving Christopher access to specialized care close to home. Through extensive physical and occupational therapy, along with treatments such as Botox to help relax affected muscles, Christopher continued to make steady progress. A second surgery several years later improved movement in his shoulder and bicep, and another procedure is planned to further improve function.

Today, Christopher is a joyful five-year-old who enjoys the simple moments of childhood. Playing at parks, jumping in bounce houses, and participating in soccer and basketball. His progress is a powerful testament to the impact of compassionate, expert pediatric care.

As the 2026 Children’s Miracle Network Local Champion, Christopher will help represent the thousands of children who rely on El Paso Children’s Hospital each year. His story will be shared throughout the community to help raise awareness and support for the programs and services that make specialized pediatric care possible.

These contributions ensure that children like Christopher have the opportunity to grow stronger, overcome challenges, and pursue their dreams.
