Don & Genna Pendergras Donates Hearts of Hope Art Collection to El Paso Children’s Hospital

The El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation proudly hosted a Hearts of Hope Ceremony celebrating the extraordinary generosity of longtime community supporter Don and Genna Pendergras. The Pendergras' purchased the entire Hearts of Hope art collection during the Foundation’s Hearts of Hope Art Show and Silent Auction. In an inspiring act of kindness, he chose to donate the full collection back to El Paso Children’s Hospital, where the artwork now brightens two newly expanded areas, the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and the Intermediate Care Unit. This installation marks the first artwork placed on these new floors bringing color, creativity, and comfort to patients and families as they face some of life’s toughest challenges. Each piece now stands as a symbol of hope.

The Hearts of Hope Art Show and Silent Auction was a vibrant collaboration between local artists and community members. Each 3D heart-shaped board handcrafted by artist Chris Ibarra, was transformed into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece by talented regional artists including Mario Ulloa, Francisco Romero, Salud Carrillo-Silva, Daniel Padilla, Susana Alvarado, and Chris Ibarra himself.

Proceeds from the event benefited the Healing Arts Program at El Paso Children’s Hospital, which provides a creative and therapeutic outlet for young patients and their families. The program uses art to foster self-expression, reduce stress, and bring light to the hospital experience. The Hearts of Hope initiative continues to demonstrate how art connects and uplifts the community. Thanks to The Pendergras's, the halls of El Paso Children’s Hospital now reflect not only the talent of our local artists but also the compassion and generosity that define our city. Thank you, Don and Genna, for continuing to go above and beyond for our children, our families, and our community.
