El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation has received a $25,000 grant from RAIZ Federal Credit Union to support Project KETO: Ketogenic Epilepsy Therapy Optimization for Children, a specialized initiative to be implemented by El Paso Children’s Hospital. This transformative grant will help eliminate cost barriers to care by covering medically necessary ketogenic formula, education, and staff training. Ensuring children with drug-resistant epilepsy across the Paso del Norte region can access this life-changing therapy.

• The project team will evaluate Project KETO’s impact through four key focus areas:
• Clinical Results: Monitoring seizure reduction, nutritional growth, and therapy adherence through the hospital’s electronic medical record system.
• Access & Reach: Prioritizing underserved children and providing financial support to reduce barriers to care.
• Capacity Building: Equipping clinical staff with specialized ketogenic therapy training and sharing best practices through professional forums and publications.
• Family Feedback: Conducting ongoing caregiver surveys to measure satisfaction, accessibility, and quality-of-life improvements.
